Brookview is proud to be the exclusive provider of a specialized memory care unit in
Defiance County. Known as the Garden Unit, our Alzheimer’s care center offers individualized care for memory related disorders at all stages of the disease progression.
Health services, facilities and programming have been professionally designed to foster
the highest levels of dignity, function and prolonged independence for those in our care.
The Garden Unit provides safety and structure in a calm, home-like setting. Our center
is designed with the utmost attention to detail. Large, open, airy spaces help keep
residents from feeling closed-in. Tasteful, subtle designs have been utilized in interior
decorating to minimize textures and patterns that might be confusing or agitating to
residents. We believe we have taken every measure within reason to ensure the
well-being of our residents and provide a sense of peace of mind to their families.
Some of the more noticeable features include a security system specifically designed for
the unique demands of Alzheimer’s resident housing, smoke detectors, a sprinkler
system, automatic fire doors, a completely smoke-free environment and of course,
24-hour staffing.
We create individualized care plans that include self-care, homemaking, hobbies and a
wide variety of therapeutic programs such as reminiscing and word games. In deference
to the special needs of Alzheimer’s residents we accommodate their need for activity
without over regulating such matters. This means that we follow the wishes of the
individual resident and family and never force participation in structured programs
which may not be of benefit to the resident.
Because we are in the same building as our skilled nursing facility, we can provide a
continuum of care from early diagnosis to comprehensive medically complex care. |
